*** Cello Flash Mob ***

FANCY A BIT OF CELLO MADNESS?!?

Definition of a flash mob:
A flash mob (or inexplicable mob) is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse.
(See Wikipedia for more info)

Dear Cellist,

You are invited to take part in a ¨cello flash mob¨ in the foyer of the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff at 5pm on Saturday 18th August 2007.

All cellists are invited, please pass this on to anybody you think may be interested. All ages, all abilities. There are some very easy parts for all the pieces.

It is a one-off performance, there is no rehearsal, goodness knows how many of us may turn up…….the more the merrier!

We will be playing the 1st movement of Karl Jenkins – Palladio arranged specially for this event in 5 cello parts, a selection of fun pieces by Tony Osborne (The Pink Elephant / Down at the OK Corral / Green Bass Blues / Habanera) and other items (including The Simpsons, Star Wars, The Muppets, Pink Panther, The Flintstones and Jaws!) arranged for cello orchestra by Rachel Webley.

All the composers are aware and supportive of this venture and we are very grateful to them for this and also to Peter Reynolds for allowing us to use the WMC.

What you need to do :

1. Please forward this on to every cellist you know (!)

2. On the day please arrive by 4.30pm at the latest. You will need your cello and bow (obviously!), a music stand and a spike holder (it’s a slippery, shiny floor and we may be sitting on benches not chairs).

3. There is no dress code, wear what you want (!)

Any questions? Don’t be afraid, get in touch!

It’s all for fun!
